MEET RUTHANN

"I truly have a passion for camp's facilities to look great. And my hope is to continue serving as Head of Housekeeping as long as the Lord gives me the strength. Please pray that my work will be energized by faith and my service will be motivated by love and unwavering hope in our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thessalonians 1:3).

Having not attended UPBC as a child, I first came to camp in 1972 with my boyfriend Dave (who would later become my husband), and his parents Russ and Ruth Van Ryn. My first experience in serving at UPBC was during Memorial weekend. Russ, who was the director of camp at the time, gave me the job of cleaning the old copper fireplace hood in the dining hall. The camps I have attended over the years are Family Service, Prayer Camp, and Autumn Adventure (directed by Dave and myself). I have also counseled for Girls Camp once and Varsity Camp twice.

I have been serving at UPBC full-time since 2008. Initially, my role was secretary/book-keeper. But with camp now having three campuses and a year-round facility, I serve as the head of housekeeping. My responsibilities include spring cleaning, ordering cleaning supplies, summer camp housekeeping, Woodlands housekeeping, Retreat Center housekeeping, fall laundry and storage of all towels and bedding for our summer campus, and housekeeping for retreats. God has blessed camp with many willing volunteers who help me complete these tasks.

UPBC wants every penny you give to go to the missionaries. This is why we prefer to receive checks (or bill-pay) over online donations, as making online donations via credit card results in processing fees. However, we get it! Online payments are quick and easy via the button at the bottom of the screen. Checks should be made out to “UPBC Missions Committee” and sent to the address below.
